Timbaland is the stage name of Timothy Zachery Mosley. American record producer, singer and rapper born on March 10, 1971 in Norfolk, Virginia. While in high school, Timbaland began a long term collaboration with rapper Melvin Barcliff, who performed under the name of Magoo. Timbaland also joined the production ensemble S.B.I. or "Surrounded By Idiots". Singer Missy Elliott heard his material and began working with him. As a result, his debut album was recorded and released in 1998. It was titled "Tim’s Bio: Life from da Bassment" and includes many guest artist such as Missy Elliot, Jay-Z, Twista and NAS. Timbaland then went on to produce albums for various artist such as Ludacris, Jay-Z, Petey Pablo and Beck. Timbaland has since gone on to release two more studio albums which include Timbaland Presents Shock Value and Timbaland Presents Shock Value 2. In early 2007, Timbaland was accused of plagiarism regarding his work on the Nelly Furtado track "Do It". He is alleged to have plagiarized elements from the song "Acid Jazzed Evening" by Finnish artist Tempest, without giving credit or compensation. In March 2009, he filed a lawsuit against his label, Blackground Records, alleging that they attempted to blackball him after he decided to move from music performance into production.
