The Used officially formed in January 2001 in Orem, Utah. It features the following members; Bert McCracken, Quinn Allman, Jeph Howard and Dan Whitesides. In 2002, it was discovered that a Boston band had already trademarked the name "Used," so they decided to add "The" to their name, thus becoming The Used. Their self-titled debut album was released on June 25, 2002, and was produced by John Feldmann. They then released their sophomore album, In Love and Death on September 28, 2004. It has since been certified gold. In 2007, The Used released their third album Lies for the Liars. It was not a commercial success and as of yet is the only album they produced that didn’t become certified gold. An EP, Shallow Believer, was released in February 2008 that featured most of the band’s B-sides to date. They spent the entire year of 2008 working on their fourth studio album, which is to be released in July 2009. At new shows, they are performing a new track entitled "Blood on My Hands" which is the first single from the album. Their first single is scheduled to air on rock radio stations starting June 30th. So far The Used has achieved both Gold and Platinum statuses in more than 6 countries worldwide.
