Thalía is the stage name of Ariadna Thalia Sodi Miranda. She was born on August 26, 1971 in Mexico City, Mexico to parents Ernesto Sodi Pallares and Yolanda Miranda Mange. By the time she was one year old, she had already appeared on television in a soft drink advertisement. In 1986 she became a member of a successful band Timbiriche, taking the place of the popular Sasha Sokol. In 1987 she achieved success with Timbiriche, recording four albums. She appeared in magazines, and was the winner of a fitness contest. Then she left the group "Timbiriche" in order to follow a career as solo artist. From 1990-2000 she released several albums in her native Spanish. These include Thalía, Mundo de Cristal, Love, En extasis and Arrasando. She then released her English debut entitled "Thalia" in 2003. The album went straight to number one, spending five consecutive weeks at Billboard’s Top Latin Album Chart and Top Latin Pop Albums.Thalía has sold over 3 million copies worldwide.Thalia has since sold more than 25 million albums worldwide and her soap operas have been watched the world over. She is currently married to music executive Tommy Mottola, the ex-husband of Mariah Carey.
