Nickelback is a Canadian rock band that was formed in 1995 in Alberta, Canada. It was formed by members Chad Kroeger, Mike Kroeger, Ryan Peake and then-drummer Brandon Kroeger, who has since been replaced by drummer Daniel Adair. Its name originates from the nickel in change that band member Mike Kroeger gave customers at his Starbucks job, he would frequently say, "Here’s your nickel back". In April of 1996 they released their first EP, Hesher. In the same year Nickelback recorded their first full-length album Curb. It sold 100,000 copies as an independent release. Their sophomore album was released in 1998 and was entitled The State. It held a peak position of #130 on the Billboard 200, which beat the Curbs peak position of #182. The third album that Nickelback released, and the one that is considered their break through effort was Silver Side Up. It was released on September 11, 2001. It spawned the singles "How You Remind Me", "Too Bad" and "Never Again". The album has since sold over five million copies. In 2003, Nickelback released The Long Road. This album was certified triple Platinum by the RIAA in March 2005 and has sold over 3.4 million copies. All the Right Reasons is the fifth studio album by Nickelback, released on October 4, 2005. The album was the third straight No. 1 album for the band in their native Canada and has sold over seven million copies worldwide.
