Alizee is the professional name of Alizee Jacotey. She was born on August 21, 1984 in Ajaccio, Corsica. In 1999, she appeared on the TV talent show "Graines de Star", broadcast on Metropole 6. She initially intended to sign up for the programme’s dance contest. However, the dance category was reserved for groups only. Alizee therefore participated in the singing category instead, performing the song Ma Pričre (a single released by Axelle Red in 1997). She went on to win the "Meilleure Graine" award for most promising young singing star of tomorrow. As a result she got signed to a major label and in March of 2001 released her debut album entitled Gourmandises. It went platinum in record three months, and to date it has sold more than 1,300,000 copies in France, and over 4 million worldwide. Alizee’s sophomore album, Mes Courants Électriques, was released on March 18, 2003. It sold more than 200,000 copies in the first three months of its release, and has since sold over 1 million copies worldwide. Alizee has since released three more albums which include Alizee En Concert in 2004, Psychedelices in 2007 and Tout Alizee, also in 2007. Alizee married fellow French singer Jeremy Chatelain in late 2003.
