Cyndi Lauper was born to Fred and Catrine Lauper in Queens, New York on June 22, 1953. Her real name is Cynthia Ann Stephanie Lauper. In the mid-70s, Lauper performed as a vocalist with various cover bands in the New York metropolitan area, singing hits by bands such as Jefferson Airplane, Led Zeppelin, and Bad Company. In 1983, Cyndi Lauper released her debut album, She’s So Unusual. The album catapulted Lauper to stardom with such hits as "Girls Just Want to Have Fun", "She Bop" and "Time After Time". The album peaked at #4 on the Billboard pop albums chart (US), and stayed in the top-forty of the Billboard 200 for sixty-five weeks; remaining on the charts for 172 weeks. As of 2002 it has sold more than nine million copies worldwide. In 1986 she released her sophomore album True Colors. The album produced the singles "True Colors," "Change of Heart," "What’s Going On," and "Boy Blue". True Colors album went double Platinum in the United States. Cyndi Lauper has since released eight more albums. As of 2008 she has sold more than 25 million albums and singles worldwide. In August 2008, Lauper contributed an article titled "Hope" to The Huffington Post which encouraged Americans to vote for Barack Obama in the upcoming United States presidential election.

TLC was formed in Atlanta, Georgia in 1991. It consist of Tionne "T-Boz" Watkins, Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes and Rozonda "Chilli" Thomas. They signed a contract with LaFace Records on August 16, 1991 and immediately began recording their first album into January 1992. On February 25, 1992 TLC released their debut album, Ooooooohhh… On the TLC Tip. It was certified four times Platinum in the U.S. by the RIAA and in 2003,according to Nielsen SoundScan, it sold 4.3 million copies in the U.S., while shipping over 6 million copies worldwide. On November 15, 1994, TLC released it’s sophomore album, CrazySexyCool. The album features two Billboard Hot 100 number-one hits: "Creep" and "Waterfalls". The album became one of the most successful R&B/ Hip-Hop albums ever released, shipping over eleven million records domestically and selling fifteen million worldwide. On February 23, 1999, they released Fan Mail. It debuted at #1 on the Billboard Top 200 albums chart, with 318,000 copies sold and remained at #1 for 5 weeks. The album received eight nominations. "No Scrubs" won Best R&B Vocal Performance by a Duo or Group and Best R&B Song and Fanmail won Best R&B Album. In early 2002, just before the release of TLC’s fourth Album, 3D, Lopes was killed in a car accident in Honduras. Watkins and Thomas promoted 3D as a duo, and in 2005, hosted a reality television show, R U the Girl, with a grand prize of a chance to record a song and perform once in concert with the surviving group members.

Jason Mraz was born on June 23, 1977 in Mechanicsville, Virginia. In 2002, he released his debut album, Waiting for My Rocket to Come. The allbum was a relative commercial success, with the album peaking at number fifty-five on the Billboard Hot 200 and at number two on the Top Heatseekers Chart. The lead single from the album, The Remedy (I Won’t Worry) was co-written by music production team The Matrix and it was Mraz’s first top twenty single on the Billboard Hot 100, peaking at number fifteen. In July 2005, Jason Mraz opened for Alanis Morissette during her Jagged Little Pill Acoustic Tour. On July 26, 2005, he released his second major-label album, "Mr. A-Z", through Atlantic Records. It debuted at #5 on Billboard’s Top 200 albums chart, selling over sixty-thousand albums in the first week. It also spawned several singles which include "Wordplay" and "Geek in the Pink" . In 2008, Mraz released his third studio album, We Sing. We Dance. We Steal Things.. The album debuted at number three on the Billboard 200 was a commercial success worldwide, peaking in the top ten of many international charts. Jason Mraz currently owns an Avocado Farm in San Diego.

Chris Brown was born in Tappahannock, Virginia on May 5, 1989. He started his entertainment career at the age of 2 by taking up tap dancing and singing in the choir of his parent’s church. He has cited the physical abuse of his mother at the hands of his father as a major impact on his life. At the age of 13 he began to pursue a record deal. He eventually landed a deal with Jive Records an in 2005 he released his self entitled debut album, Chris Brown. The single Run It off of the album debuted on the Billboard Hot 100. That album has subsequently sold over two million copies. Two years later he followed that success up with his sophomore album "Exclusive" .That album sold almost two million copies and spawned two successful singles, Kiss Kiss and Without You. The single Without You peaked on the Billboard Hot 100 at the number two spot. Besides his own personal success Chris Brown has also been featured on the albums of several other successful artist including Lil Bow Wow, Lil Mama and T-Pain.

Holly Valance was born Holly Rachel Vukadinovic on May 11, 1983 in New Zealand. She is related to the late British comedian Benny Hill, Hill’s cousin was her grandfather. Holly Valance’s first single as a recording artist was a cover of Turkish singer Tarkan’s "Kiss Kiss" released in 2002. The song debuted at #1 in both the Australian Recording Industry Association and UK Singles Charts charts in April of 2002. next single, "Down Boy" peaked at #2 in the UK and at #3 in Australia. Her debut album, Footprints, was released on October 14, 2002. It peaked at number-nine on the albums chart selling over one hundred thousand copies. In 2003, Holly Valance released her second studio album, State of Mind. In Australia, it entered the ARIA Albums Chart at number fifty-seven and fell to number eighty on its second week, spending only two weeks in the top one hundred. In the UK it did even worse, peaking at number sixty and only spending one week in the top seventy-five. In 2004, she started acting in the United States, appearing in episodes of the television series CSI: Miami and Entourage. In 2005, she appeared in an episode of CSI: NY. She then guest-starred in Prison Break, in 2006, as Nika Volek, a role which she continued to portray in the show’s second season.

Pink is the stage name of Alecia Beth Moore, an American singer and songwriter. She was born on Septem 8,1979 in Doylestown Pennsylvania. At the early age of fourteen she started singing Philadelphia clubs and at the age of sixteen joined the Atlanta based band Choice. Choice was signed to Leface Records and contributed a song to the 1996 sound track of Kazaam. The group disbanded after recording an unreleased album but Pink remained with the label as a solo act. In 2000, she released her debut album entitled Can’t Take Me Home. It was a commercial success and has since sold over five million copies. Pink followed up the success of her freshman album with the release of Missundaztood. That album was a smash success and has sold over sixteen million copies worldwide. Her third album, and the one with the lowest sales to date, was released in 2003 and was titled Try This.Pink continued writing music and she married BMX racer Carey Hart in January of 2006. That was also the year she released her fourth album I’m Not Dead. Pink And Corey Hart were together for two years when they separated in 2008. After the seperation Pink released Fun House in October of 2008. It debuted on the U.K and Australian charts at the number one position and at the number two position of the U.S. Charts.

Tom Petty is an American singer and songwriter. He was born on October 20, 1950 in Gainesville, Florida. After working with his early bands, The Sundowners, The Epics and Mudcrutch Tom Petty began his recording career with the Heartbreakers. They released their first album, "Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers" in 1976. Their second album, You’re Gonna Get It!, marked the band’s first Top 40 album and featured the singles "I Need To Know" and "Listen To Her Heart". Their third album, Damn the Torpedoes, quickly went platinum, selling nearly two million copies; it includes their breakthrough singles "Don’t Do Me Like That", "Here Comes My Girl" and "Refugee." In 1988, Petty became a founding member of the Traveling Wilburys, along with Bob Dylan, George Harrison, Roy Orbison, and Jeff Lynne. The band’s first song, "Handle With Care," was intended as a B-side of one of Harrison’s singles, but was judged too good for that purpose and the group decided to record a full album, "Traveling Wilburys Vol. 1". Tom Petty has since released seven more albums with the Heartbreakers and has produced three solo albums. On February 3, 2008, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers performed at the Super Bowl XLII Halftime show.

Beck Hansen is an American musician, singer and songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist known by the stage name Beck. He was born on July 8, 1970 in Los Angeles, California to David Campbell, a Canadian musician, and Bibbe Hansen, a visual artist. After dropping out of high school in the mid-1980s, Beck traveled to Europe and developed his musical talent by playing music on the streets for tips. In 1994, Beck released his major label debut album titled Mellow Gold. Mellow Gold reached number thirteen in the U.S., and number forty one in the UK. In 1996, Beck released his sophomore album, Odelay. The album peaked at #16 on the Billboard 200 chart and eventually sold over 2 million copies in the United States. It was also Beck’s first hit album in the United Kingdom, making it to number seventeen; it has since gone platinum in the UK. Odelay featured several hit singles, including "Where It’s At", "Devils Haircut," and "The New Pollution". Odelay was awarded Album of the Year by American magazine Rolling Stone and by UK publications NME and Mojo. Odelay also received a Grammy nomination for Best Album.Beck has since released 6 major label albums and sold 7 million copies in the United States and around 15 million worldwide.
